Language Wars in India: Pride, Power, and the Cost of Coercion

Language Wars in India: Pride, Power, and the Cost of Coercion Author’s Note: This article critiques language politics, governance failures, and social behavior. It does not target or stereotype any linguistic or regional community. Its purpose is to argue for constitutionalism, coexistence, and institutional responsibility in a multilingual democracy. Language in India is not merely a tool of communication—it is identity, memory, dignity, and belonging. In a country of extraordinary linguistic diversity, this richness should be a source of collective strength. Yet increasingly, language has become a flashpoint for social conflict, particularly in urban, migrant-heavy states such as Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. What begins as cultural pride often escalates into coercion and fear—not because languages are valued too much, but because institutions protect them too weakly. Why Language Becomes a Flashpoint Language conflicts usually arise ...

The Left’s Selective Outrage Is Eroding Its Own Moral Authority

The Left’s Selective Outrage Is Eroding Its Own Moral Authority The Left’s Selective Outrage Is Eroding Its Own Moral Authority Author’s Note This article critiques political ideologies, policy outcomes, and selective moral frameworks. It does not target or generalize any religion, ethnicity, or community. The argument is for consistency in human rights and universal moral standards. I don’t criticize the Left or liberals because they speak about injustice. I criticize them because of which injustices they choose to speak about—and which they repeatedly ignore. Outrage, when rooted in principle, should be universal. Human rights should not depend on religion, geography, or ideological convenience. Yet over time, liberal outrage has become selective, predictable, and politically aligned, steadily eroding its own moral credibility. Selective outrage is not compassion. It is moral filtering. When Victims Don’t Fit the Narrative Consider the situation...

How is Covid impacting Human Behavior & Relationships ?

How is Covid impacting Human Behavior & Relationships ? "Isolation is a stress-producing state, as one of our human needs is for connections" — Sylvia Whitlock                      Rotary Club of Claremont, California, USA Covid-19 hit planet earth officially on Jan 2020 and its been nearly a year and half while it still continues to go stronger and impact human lives. With health workers at risk, hospital equipment like oxygen, critical medicines, vaccines in short supply, and death rates from the coronavirus spiking by the day, governments all over the world have mandated ‘social distancing’, closed schools and most businesses, and ordered everyone but essential service workers to stay home. In response, parents like my wife and I have cancelled our children’s play dates and any exposure to the outside world. Nursing homes have banned visits to the elderly, who are most at risk from this virus. So much of the socialising that ...

Visarjan-MyTake on this Ritual and Solution to this Problem

Image
Visarjan-a Ritual or a Blind faith destroying mother earth? After many years of frustration and attempts of persuasion among friends and family, I have reached a dead end where instead of people realizing the lack of resources left on Earth (esp. India ) to sustain more generations, we are hell bend in destroying what we have on the name of old established rituals. This year I was heartbroken to see Powai Lake and other water bodies in such bad shape post the Visarjan that it compelled me to write this article. The last day when you take your Ganapati or Maa Durga to immerse him/her in the seashore or surrounding Lakes, with a heavy heart, does anyone realize the damage this immersion can cause? Well, I am not simply talking about the disappointment of the parting Ganesh or Maa Durga does to our heartstrings only, but also to the environment in general. I always wonder what the logic behind this Visarjan is and I fail to get answers even from people who are performing Visarjan...

Increasing Rapes in India-Causes & Solutions

Image
This heinous gang rape on 16 th Dec has shaken the whole country and for the first time, this country is united and fighting for a cause which is completely non-political and people are showing a will to not make it a fading memory without any stern actions taken. So let us understand what the people are demanding Death penalty for the accused and hence a stricter law which makes sure such gang rapist are hanged to death in future as well Fast track trials for Rape and domestic violence related cases. We can't tolerate such cases to go on for 4-5 yrs without judgment Considering an immense increase in rape cases across India (80 K rape cases pending in Delhi itself) to have a special investigation cell and court to handle these cases Police verification of all Drivers-Buses, Taxi, Auto & Trucks before assigning licenses and permits. If people with any criminal record are caught in these positions, AVP should be held accountable and he should be suspended. Non tolera...

Ten things that India needs to do

I thought about the ten things which we must do to improve our chances to be a developed country. 1. Increase Tolerance towards religion  I respect the fact that India is secular and that we don’t support any particular religion and that all religions have equal rights in the society. Every religion’s sentiment is respected and every community has a right to appeal if their sentiments are hurt. But secularism instead of becoming strength to our country is becoming the biggest weakness and hurdle in the progress of India. Government can’t make practical decisions because it is scared that it would hurt some religious community. We need to eradicate extremist from every religious community and increase religious tolerance among the people. Every person has to rationally think about his religion and give more importance to the country as a whole rather then being so picky about mundane and intricate details of their religion. These religions were written in a different era when p...

“Has Secularism helped India evolve as a stronger country or has it made it hollow and highly vulnerable from inside?”

India is the largest democratic country in the world and is one of the most liberal countries in the sense it bestows its people with a lot of freedom to express itself in all forms of communication. India is a land which espouses seven major religions namely Hinduism, Islamic, Sikhism, Buddhism, Jainism, Zoroastianism and Christianity. While Hinduism is exemplified as a religion which enjoys majority, other religions claim to be a minority who needs special privileges and rights in order to co-exist peacefully in a secular country. This personifies the irony of secularism. Firstly we call our self secular which primarily means all religions are of equal status and must enjoy equal rights and authority on the country’s resources, on the other hand these same people require special civil liberties on the basis that they are neglected and unnoticed in this country. And in the due process every religious entity in this country needs their own space, own ideology, own ways of...
